Appointments:
It’s been a while since we’ve seen you! We would like to check height, weight, and iron (hemoglobin or hgb) during WIC certification and mid-certification appointments to see how you or your child is growing. Have you been to the doctor in the 2 months prior to your appointment? Send us this information from your doctor’s office.

Don’t forget to log on to the WIC Family Portal to send in requested documents prior to your appointment. The link to do so will come in a separate text message or email a few days before your scheduled appointment. You can also view and provide requested information in the MyWIC App under Documents.

Benefit Reload:
Need your benefits loaded? Please call us for your nutrition education and we’d be happy to reload benefits. If you’d prefer to have benefits loaded without the hassle of a phone call, ask us about ONE!

Interested in Applying? Call our office at 920-869-4829.

BENEFIT UPDATES:

Make sure to reload your benefits by the 15th of the month for a full benefit package.

THIS MONTH’S NUTRITION TOPIC:

Choking Prevention and Food Safety
Children under the age of 4 are at increased risk for choking.
There are certain foods we recommend avoiding to prevent choking, including:

  • Popcorn
  • Nuts/seeds
  • Dried fruit
  • Gummy fruit snacks
  • Cheese cubes/blocks
  • Hard candy
  • Whole round or tube-shaped foods (such as grapes, cherry tomatoes, raw carrots, cherries, sausages/hot dogs)
  • Marshmallows
  • Ice cubes
  • Spoonfuls of peanut (or any nut) butter

Preparing foods safely is especially important for children under the age of 5 and pregnant women – as they are at increased risk for foodborne illness.
There are certain foods we recommend avoiding to prevent bacterial infections in these groups of people, including:

  • Cold lunch meats and leftovers
  • Sunny side up eggs
  • Sushi or raw fish
  • Ready-to-eat salads (chicken salad, egg salad, etc.)
  • Unpasteurized milk, cheese, juice or honey
